Infrared thermal imaging is a powerful tool in veterinary medicine, with applications ranging from detecting inflammation to monitoring athletic performance. While it's already being used daily in innovative ways, recently published research has revealed exciting new applications for this versatile imaging technology

In this webinar, Dr. Ron Riegel will share recent research findings and discuss their implications for thermal imaging use in everyday practice (and beyond). A wide range of potential new applications, from small animal to equine, will be covered.

The following thermal imaging applications will be explored:
• Detecting and identifying canine obstructive nasal disease (BOAS)
• Assessing the performance of canine and equine athletes
• Monitoring the effects of training on military working dogs to identify heat stress, fatigue levels, and dehydration
• Detecting vascular changes associated with injuries

About the Presenter

Dr. Ron Riegel is a well-recognized champion for medical laser education. His background in laser technoogy encompasses human, companion animals as well as equine disciplines.
Dr. Ron Riegel has authored more than a dozen papers and books on companion animal and equine therapy including "Laser Therapy for the Equine Athlete", "Laser Therapy in the Companion Animal Practice" and "Clinical Overview and Application of Class IV Therapy Lasers". He also founded and managed Equistar Publications and Illustrated Animal Books LLC.
He has spent the last 2 decades lecturing nationally and internationally to human and veterinary healthcare professionals.
He served as a clinical instructor with the Ohio State University. In addition to his time as an educator, Dr. Riegel operated a multi-doctor private veterinary practice in Ohio for more than two decades.
Dr. Ron Riegel earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Delaware. His doctoral degree in animal science cam from the University of Illinois. He is a member of the Academy of Human Neuromuscular Physiology.
